The battle of the evils

There is no truly altruistic action. Every person is selfish in everything he does.
- Ayn Rand (IDK when)

There is no better regulation that the individual's prudence in risk taking.
- Greenspan in 2004

Greenspan was correct in short time frames. Ayn Rand was correct in longer timeframes. What was underestimated was the powers of capitalism, or in other words, the society's capacity for collective greed. This economic turmoil has hence been caused due to collective greed overtaking an individual's circumspection in taking risk.

Atherton and Cricket

The archives recall not one single incriminating incident, not one drunken escapade, not one reported affair, not one spat with a team-mate or reporter. Throughout, he has maintained his professional integrity, tailoring his game to the demands of the situation and the team, always giving the game and his craft due care and attention. Is he even human?

Whats wrong with this statement? Is he saying that Tendulkar has achieved so much and yet he does not have a blackspot on his career / life ? So is it really surprising that someone who practiced all that our Veda miss taught us in moral science class (yes we had the smae teacher for both), became a success ? When was it that the causality became reversed ? Are all successful guys expected to have a few black episodes... scandals.. wives.... spats.. and the like?

And here we are thinking moral science is proven, and cricket is a gentleman's sport...
